Planning

Are your teachers able to bridge between data analysis and instructional strategies?

Analyzing and understanding data can help diagnose the problem, but doesn’t prescribe the cure. Our consultants work closely with each district and school-based team to connect the dots between student learning needs and Instructional Strategies.

The planning process results in an actionable, realistic, school-wide plan for Professional Development (PD) aligned to learning needs. We help your team examine the data, identify appropriate instructional goals, and plan PLC activities around the learning and implementation of Instructional Strategies into the day-to-day practice of your school community.

The TeachFirst planning process benefits your district, school, and teacher leaders in three critical ways:

  1. Integrates existing school and district priorities into the PLC framework
  2. Provides a bridge between data analysis and instructional strategies
  3. Defines what PLCs need to focus on, learn about, and implement in the classroom

Planning takes place at both the district and building level:

District-Level Planning

  • Analyze data
  • Define instructional goals
  • Define each school’s “readiness level” for implementing whole school PD
  • Align instructional goals with TeachFirst Instructional Strategies
  • Identify other instructional initiatives to be integrated with TeachFirst
  • Establish benchmarks for Measuring Progress
  • Determine annual PLC and facilitator training calendar
  • Coordinate technology requirements with district IT staff

Building-Level Planning

  • Analyze data
  • Identify instructional needs
  • Align instructional needs with TeachFirst Instructional Strategies
  • Define operational protocols for PLCs
  • Identify PLC facilitators and members
  • Establish metrics for Measuring Progress
