john_mullinJohn has been responsible for overall organizational management since company inception, maintaining alignment between TeachFirst’s shared education and business missions from original product concept through TeachFirst’s current suite of products and services. John has overseen TeachFirst’s growth from the first basement office in Seattle to it’s current level of operations with offices in 5 states.

Prior to TeachFirst, John spent 12 years in various management roles in start up and early stage technology companies, including roles as Vice President of Product Management and Marketing in the streaming media and wireless industries.

John has served on the Steering Committee of the Infotech Infusion public/private partnership creating technology academies within Seattle high schools, as Board Chair for Washington Literacy, and on the Building Leadership Team for John Stanford International School.

John received a B.A. from Brown University and an MBA with honors from the University of Washington. He and his family live in Seattle, Washington, where he coaches two youth soccer teams that were undefeated last year, although we’re not supposed to keep score.

sandi_everloveSandi is the visionary and architect behind the TeachFirst professional learning model. She directs the development of innovative resources used to support teacher learning through PLCs including hundreds of online videos demonstrating research-based instructional strategies, facilitator guides, discussion protocols, team building activities, and student shadow protocols.

Prior to TeachFirst, Sandi was an award-winning high school chemistry teacher in Seattle Public Schools and received the Washington State Golden Apple Award in 1998. Through a U.S. Department of Education grant, she wrote and piloted a number of science courses including an award-winning high school ethics class.

A passionate advocate for children, Sandi designed and led professional development courses for teachers in Guatemala and co-founded Lake Washington Girls Middle School, the first not-for-profit, secular all girls’ middle school in Washington State. She has served on the Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarship committee for almost 20 years.

Sandi and her family live in Seattle, Washington.

Brian White, CTO/Vice President, Product Development Top of Page

brian_1After joining TeachFirst as part of the founding team in 2000, Brian helped lead the design of the TeachFirst model as well as the online and technological support systems. His key role in the company is directing and producing TeachFirst video models, leading the design and architecture of all online tools and resources, and managing and directing the development of new training and instructional content.

Prior to his work at TeachFirst, Brian was an executive in the consulting and communications industry, leading early initiatives to integrate existing data and communication systems with emerging internet technologies. Brian has also worked as a radio and television broadcast executive, director and producer.

Brian has served on the leadership teams and steering committees of several organizations involved in neighborhood and community improvement issues. He currently serves on the advisory board of Treeswing – a Seattle-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating balanced, healthy environments for children and preventing childhood obesity.

He and and his family live in Seattle, Washington.

Jane Wolz, Director Content Development Top of Page

Jane joined TeachFirst in 2001. She uses her extensive experience studying the needs of struggling learners to inform her work. Jane works closely with school districts across the country, soliciting input and feedback which she then incorporates into TeachFirst’s content offerings.

Jane has over 25 years experience teaching experience in both general and special education classrooms. She has developed curriculum content, taught college-level courses and provided district-level professional development on instructional practices to support struggling readers and writers.

Jane received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington, investigating best practices to support the acquisition of literacy for students with limited literacy backgrounds and has presented research at national and international conferences.

Jane and her family live in Seattle, Washington.
